Do you know what are interracial relationships?
We have conquered land, water, space and almost everything, but still we are finding ways to accept relationships like interracial relationships. So, do you actually know what are interracial relationships?
God created man, without any kind of differences, but it was man itself who created all the differences among us, marked many lines of caste, creed, religion and color.
There wasn’t anything left in the world which was not separated by differences created by man except one thing i.e. love.
Today, we live in a world which is being overshadowed by hatred, agony and anger, but still love prevails among people.
To truly understand what are interracial relationships, you must first understand the definition of love.
We say love is blind, and we say it because of a reason, because love is the only feel in this world which doesn’t see any kind of cast, creed and color of skin.
Interracial relationships are the form of relationship that involves two individuals of different races, in other word we can say that it’s a kind of miscegenation between two individuals of the opposite sex who belong to a different race.
What are interracial relationships – Some Myths that have been taught over Generations:
Interracial means black and white couples– We often get this concept wrong that interracial relationships are only between white and black people.
Well, I want to make this point very clear, it’s not only the relationships between the blacks and whites, but if an asian will get into a relationship with an African then also it will be considered as an interracial relationship.
Minorities in interracial relation hate themselves– People who are in this kind of relationship are often accused, especially the minorities, as they are accused by this fact that they date white people to raise their status in the society.
History of interracial relationships – What are interracial relationships
Along with many other taboos practiced in our society, the interracial relationships were also one of them, as it was considered to be a sin if you get involved in a relationship with the individual of another race.
And if we look towards the country like the United States of America, which always promoted the concept of purity and separation of races, there were laws to separate this kind of relationships.
It was the year 1664, when Maryland enacted the first anti – miscegenation law in the United States and by the end of 1700s, five additional laws were introduced to maintain the purity of the society.
But it was the year 1967, the supreme court of the United States declared anti – miscegenation law unconstitutional, and with the result there was an increase in interracial marriages and relationships.
According to census of U.S. bureau, in 1990 there were 13,48,000 interracial marriages compared to 6,51,000 in 1980.
And in the year 2000, there were 30,00,000 interracial relationships reported in the United States.
And not only in the United States there was a huge hike in the number of interracial relationships, but also, all over the world people began to accept it with open arms.
Studies show that the people who are in this kind of relationships are more likely to stay connected and attracted to each other than the people of same race, this is because they enjoy each others different features of living that creates a kind of freshness and spark in the relationship.
By seeing this, one can surely conclude that love is blind as it doesn’t care about the color of the skin, the language that the other person speaks and the religion he/she follows.
